Additional Information:
The traditional style shutters use 1-1/4” wide flat louvers, but mostly found today are wedge shaped with a vein, or ridge, down the center. The small slats generally are spaced on one-inch centers. These shutters can be made in a number of panel configurations depending on the width and height of your window opening. Four panel units (Bi-fold) seem to be the most popular design. Cafe shutters are very popular in design, having only a single tier (panels that only cover the lower portion of a window).

The double hung design, or two tier panels these are made with top to bottom opening panels, so the top panels open independently from the bottom panels. “See below for more information.

Single Hung Shutters

A single shutter set will cover the entire height of the window opening.

Double Hung Shutters

Two shutter sets will cover the entire height of the window opening, with one shutter set covering the bottom, and the other covering the top. You can specify the height of the bottom shutter set if you don't want the top and bottom shutters to be the exact same height. The top shutter set can be opened independently of the bottom one.

Cafe Style Shutters

A single shutter set will cover only a portion of the window opening, usually one half to two thirds of the height of the window opening. Cafe style can be useful if you wish to place a fabric valance in front of the top section of the window.
